Testing is NOT covered by Insurance!?!?

We believe it is profoundly unjust that insurance companies demand extensive testing before covering treatment, yet refuse to finance these very tests. This catch-22 scenario sometimes places an insurmountable barrier to accessing therapy for families.

Here at Twice Exceptional we try our very best to make sure therapy is accessible to all.

Comprehensive Psychoeducational Evaluation

A full psychoeducational assessment explores how cognitive, attention, and emotional/behavioral factors may be hindering academic, social, or functional success. This is our most commonly requested assessment, as it covers all possible areas of difficulty, including attention, learning, emotional/behavioral, and other disorders.
Apraxia Evaluation
  • receptive/expressive language
  • assessment of adaptive/daily living skills
  • behavioral/social skills assessment
  • evaluation of verbal and nonverbal communication skills
  • screening of motor and academic/pre-academic skills
  • Dyslexia testing
  • play observation when appropriate
  • comprehensive written report with suggested interventions
This​ type of assessment is most appropriate to facilitate accurate identification of general developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, and functional difficulties associated with birth injuries as well as genetic or metabolic disorders

Dyslexia/Dysgraphia Testing ONLY

NO language concerns
  • brief intelligence testing
  • phonological processing, processing speed, retrieval speed, working memory, visual-motor skills
  • achievement testing in basic reading, reading comprehension, reading fluency, spelling
  • abbreviated written report with suggestions for intervention
This type of assessment is most appropriate to explore can what's causing your child's difficulties with writing. Dyslexia testing involves four components: phonological awareness, decoding, reading fluency and comprehension, and rapid naming

Brief Intellectual/Giftedness Assessment

  • IQ testing
  • Records review
  • Giftedness screening
  • abbreviated written report
The purpose of such assessments is to recognize giftedness early on and provide appropriate educational interventions and support to nurture and develop these talents.

Academic Assessment Only

  • comprehensive achievement testing reading, comprehension, reading fluency
  • comprehensive achievement testing in Math, Math calculation, Math reasoning, Math fluency
  • comprehensive achievement testing in Written Expression including spelling and grammar
  • Brief written report
The primary purpose of academic assessments is to gather information about a student's academic performance, strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
